Frequently Asked Questions
We are based in Damascus, Arkansas. However, through our Camp on the Road program, our location changes from week to week.
Each summer we travel across Arkansas, partnering with churches in different cities to host camp. Visit our Registration Page (www.camp-haven.com/registration)to see when Camp on the Road will be coming to a location near you!
Most day camps run from 9AM-4PM. Camp hours may vary slightly depending on the location. Our Cub Camp half-day program usually dismisses around lunch time. Specific start and end times for your week of camp will be listed on our Registration Page.(www.camp-haven.com/registration)(www.camp-haven.com/registration)
Camp Haven is designed for children who have completed 2nd to 6th grade. Select weeks also offer a half-day program called Cub Camp for our younger campers, where activities are adapted to be age-appropriate. Cub Camp is offered to children ages 4 - completed 1st grade. Check our Registration Page ( www.camp-haven.com/registration)to see which weeks offer Cub Camp.
Several factors affect the weekly price of camp. Some locations offer camp for fewer days, and some host churches provide lunch while others do not. On average, camp costs about $40 per day, which is comparable to the price of standard childcare.
We work hard to keep our prices as low as possible so that as many children as possible can attend. At this time, we do not offer daily sign-ups because it can be complicated to manage, and we want each child to experience the full week of camp.
We offer half and full scholarships to select families. Our desire is that finances never become a barrier for a child who wants to attend camp.
To inquire about a scholarship, please email us at info@camp-haven.com.(mailto:info@camp-haven.com) Tell us a little about your family and the child (or children) you would like to send to camp.
We start the day with a facilitated quiet time and devotion. After that, campers move into activities. Around midday we break for lunch, followed by our daily camp skits while everyone’s food settles.
In the afternoon we continue with more activities and end the day by worshiping together. Activities include:
• Rock Wall
• Putt-Putt
• Laser Tag
• Crafts
• Giant Waterslide
• Krazy Karts
• Dodgeball
• Remote Control Car Racing
Each Full-Day camper will have the opportunity to participate in each activity. Cub Campers do not participate in Rockwall (most of them are simply too little) and other activities have been modified to be more age appropriate for these little ones!
We also incorporate many relay races and creative games throughout the program. If rain hinders any activity, we have dozens of back-up plans. Trust us, your child will have plenty to do!
Our camp counselors are carefully selected and trained to work with children. They are passionate about creating a safe, encouraging, and joy-filled environment for every camper.
Each team member is committed to modeling Christ-like character while helping campers grow in confidence, friendships, and their faith.
The safety of every child is our priority. Our staff members are trained to supervise campers closely throughout the day, and we maintain clear procedures for activities, check-in, and check-out. Each staff member is background-checked and trained through MinistrySafe. In addition to this we have a 10 day training that staff members are required to attend. During this training we educate the staff in how to conduct every aspect of camp.
We work closely with each host location to ensure the environment is safe and well organized so parents can feel confident while their children are at camp.
If your child has food allergies or dietary restrictions, please include that information during registration. If lunch is being provided at your camp location, we will do our best to accommodate those needs.
If you have specific concerns, feel free to email us ahead of time at info@camp-haven.com (mailto:info@camp-haven.com)so we can make sure your child is cared for well.
That is completely normal! Many campers feel a little nervous at first, especially if it’s their first time. Our counselors work hard to make every child feel welcomed, included, and comfortable from the moment they arrive.
By the end of the week, many campers leave with new friendships, mentors, new confidence, and memories that they will carry for the years to come.
